What a fractional PPC consultant actually does

You already have someone managing your Google Ads — maybe an employee, maybe an agency. But you’re not sure if they’re doing it right. You’ve got questions: Why are we spending £200 a day on these search terms? Is our landing page right? How do we know if the tracking is working?

That’s where I come in. I audit your account, spot the gaps, and advise on what to fix first. Sometimes I’ll help you brief your existing team. Sometimes I’ll even jump in and make changes. But I’m not replacing anyone — I’m the senior voice in the room when you need one.

Typical consulting engagements

Why Rochester and Kent businesses need an outside eye

Google Ads in the London commuter belt is expensive. Your competitor is Londoner, spending at London-level CPCs, and your own costs are higher than they’d be if you were based further out.

That means efficiency matters more. A 10% improvement in your quality score, a 15% cut to unqualified traffic, a tighter audience — these compound fast when clicks cost £2 instead of 50p.

How consulting usually starts

  1. Initial conversation (no charge)You tell me about your business, your current setup, and what you’re worried about. I ask questions to understand the real problem.
  2. Audit your accountI pull your campaign structure, keywords, audiences, landing pages, and conversion tracking. I’ll review your recent performance data.
  3. Consultation callI walk you through what I found: what’s working, what’s waste, what’s broken. I give you a prioritised list of fixes.
  4. You decide what's nextUse my advice to brief your team. Hire me for fractional hours. Request a one-off project audit. Or decide you need full management instead.

Honest advice, even if you don't hire me

I’ve seen plenty of accounts where the ads are actually working fine. If that’s you, I’ll say so. You don’t need me, and I’ll tell you that upfront rather than invent work to justify a fee.

Frequently asked questions

How does this differ from getting a full-time Google Ads manager?

I’m strategic and part-time. A full-time manager (or my full management service) owns the account, makes daily changes, and reports to you. I come in for audits, advice, and unblocking — you stay in control, your team stays in the loop.

What does consulting usually cost?

We’ll discuss a tailored quote on a call. Initial audit and strategy call is typically a day rate; ongoing fractional hours depend on scope and frequency. From £300/month if you want ongoing access.

Can you work with my current agency?

Sometimes. If your agency is open to outside input and isn’t defensive about changes, yes. If they see me as a threat to their relationship with you, it gets tricky. We’ll figure it out on a call.

What if I find out my entire strategy is wrong?

That’s actually useful. We pivot. You might need to change audience targeting, rewrite your landing pages, or restructure keywords entirely. I’ll give you a prioritised roadmap.

Do you work with Kent and Rochester businesses specifically?

Yes — location doesn’t matter to me because I’m entirely remote. But I know the local market: competition is high, CPCs are London-level, and efficiency is crucial.

How long does an audit take?

Depends on account size, but typically 2–4 hours of my time. You’ll get a written summary plus a recorded or live call to walk you through it.
