When to call a PPC consultant

You’ve got Google Ads running. Maybe in-house, maybe through an agency. But something feels off: the cost-per-lead is creeping up, the same audiences keep performing, or you’re just not confident the account is optimised properly.

You don’t want to rip out your existing setup. You want a second opinion from someone with serious PPC experience. That’s where I come in.

What consultancy covers

I'm honest about what's working and what's not

You might call me in expecting me to recommend a complete rebuild. But if your account is solid, I’ll tell you that. Sometimes the answer is ‘your agency is doing fine—just change these two things.’ Other times it’s ‘this will take 6 months to fix properly.’ Either way, you get the truth.

Typical consulting engagement

  1. Consultation call30–60 minutes. You describe the problem, I ask about business model, spend, tracking, and current results. No obligation.
  2. AuditI review your campaigns, tracking, account structure, and previous 3–6 months of performance data.
  3. Findings & recommendationWritten report or call with actionable findings and options. You decide whether to implement, and with whom.
  4. Optional follow-upMonthly calls to oversee implementation, advise your team, or help with specific projects.

Who this works best for

Founders and directors who want strategic oversight but aren’t ready to fully hand off. Fast-growing ecommerce scaling ad spend and need to validate account health. Home services and trades looking to optimise beyond the basics. Agencies and consultants wanting a second opinion before presenting to clients. In-house teams who need senior-level strategy input without hiring full-time.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a consultation cost?

The initial 30–60 minute consultation is free. If we move forward with an audit or strategy work, I quote based on scope. For simple audits, budget £500–£1,500. For deeper projects (restructures, tracking fixes, quarterly oversight), we’d discuss a custom rate or monthly retainer from £300/month onwards.

I'm in Cheltenham but my agency is nationwide. Does that matter?

Not at all. I’m fully remote and work with clients across the UK and internationally. Location is irrelevant for PPC.

Can you work alongside my current agency?

Yes, though communication matters. If I’m auditing your account, I need access to your Google Ads, GA4, and past performance data. Some agencies are protective, which I understand—but most are open to peer review if you’re a valued client.

What if your audit finds serious problems?

I’ll tell you what they are and what fixing them looks like (scope, timeline, resource). You then choose whether to ask your current team to fix it, bring me in for implementation, or move to hands-off management. No pressure either way.

How long does an audit take?

Usually 1–2 weeks from audit start to findings. Depends on account size and data complexity. I’ll give you a timeline upfront.

Do you specialise in any verticals?

Ecommerce and home services, primarily. But I’ve worked across SaaS, B2B, recruitment, and professional services. If you’re outside those areas, we can still talk—the PPC fundamentals are the same.

Need a second opinion on your PPC?

Whether you're running ads in-house, through an agency, or a mix, I'm happy to have a no-pressure conversation about your setup. If an audit or strategy work makes sense, we'll scope it together. If not, you've got clarity either way.
