When do you need a consultant?

You’ve hired a junior marketer, contracted a small agency, or promoted someone in-house to run Google Ads. They’re competent, but they’re not sure about bid strategy, or your ROAS dropped last quarter and you want an independent review. That’s when a consultant makes sense. I come in, diagnose the issue, give you a roadmap, and either hand it back to your team or work alongside them for a few months.

What fractional consulting looks like

  1. Initial strategy sessionWe review your account, your business goals, and where your current team is stuck. I ask hard questions about conversion tracking, landing pages, and seasonality.
  2. Roadmap & recommendationsI write up the gaps, the quick wins, and the longer-term plays. Priorities ranked by impact and effort.
  3. Ongoing advising (as needed)Monthly calls or spot-check reviews as you execute. Your team runs Google Ads; I keep them honest and help with tricky decisions.

The outside perspective matters

When you’re deep in an account day-to-day, you miss blind spots—competitor negatives you’ve overlooked, a bid strategy that stopped making sense six months ago, a landing page that’s been hurting conversion rate forever. I see these things in an afternoon. That clarity is worth it.

Common scenarios for consulting

How it works (no commitment trap)

You define the scope—maybe it’s a single strategy session, maybe it’s quarterly reviews for a year. I quote based on that scope. No recurring retainer unless you want one; no obligation to stay if the chemistry isn’t there. For Kirkby in Ashfield, Mansfield, or anywhere in Nottinghamshire—or beyond—I work via Zoom, Slack, and email.

Frequently asked questions

Is this different from hiring an agency?

Yes. An agency owns the account and makes all decisions. A consultant advises your team, who execute. You keep control and stay close to the work.

How much does consulting cost?

Depends on scope. Strategy session, ongoing reviews, training—each is different. I quote after we discuss what you need. Anchor is from £300/month for light ongoing advising, but a one-off deep dive might be a different arrangement.

Can you help my in-house team learn?

Absolutely. Part of consulting is teaching—so when I leave, your team can sustain the strategy without me.

Do I have to be local to Kirkby in Ashfield or Nottinghamshire?

No. I work with clients across the UK remotely. Location doesn’t affect my advice on Google Ads strategy.

What if we decide to hire you as an ongoing manager?

That conversation can happen if both of us want it. But consulting isn’t a trial period for full management—it stands on its own.

How long are typical engagements?

Ranges from a single session to six-month quarterly reviews. You set the term; I don’t lock you in.
