What's a PPC consultant?

You have someone managing your Google Ads (maybe in-house, maybe an agency). But you don’t trust them, or you’re unsure if they’re doing it right, or you need a second opinion on a big decision. That’s where I come in. I’m not here to take over — I’m here to coach, challenge, and advise at the strategy level.

The problem with trusting just one voice on PPC

Google Ads is opaque by design. CPCs are high in Northampton and the London commuter belt. Tracking is notoriously fragile. Even good PPC people can build inefficient account structures or miss waste that’s bleeding quietly into the noise. If you’ve got one person or one agency running it, you’re betting everything on their judgment.

I’ve spent 12 years digging into accounts — what works, what doesn’t, what looks good on paper but ruins margins. I offer fractional strategy: regular check-ins, decision coaching, and an outside-in perspective on whether your current setup is actually serving you.

What we cover in advisory work

How strategic consulting works

  1. Initial deep diveWe book a session; you give me access to your Google Ads account (read-only is fine). I review structure, keywords, bids, tracking, landing pages, and your unit economics.
  2. Strategic recommendationsI come back with a ranked list of what’s working, what’s wasteful, and what to fix first. We talk through the ‘why’ — not just the ‘what’.
  3. Ongoing coachingDepending on your needs, we can set up monthly or quarterly check-ins. You make the day-to-day decisions; I sanity-check major moves and help you avoid costly mistakes.

When to hire a consultant vs. a full-service agency

Hire a consultant if you already have someone running ads and you want a senior second opinion, or if you’re making big budget decisions and want expert counsel before you move. Hire an agency if you want someone to own the outcome and do the day-to-day management work.

I often work alongside whoever you have — keeping them sharp, catching missed optimisations, and giving you confidence that your budget is well-spent.

Frequently asked questions

Will you tell me my current consultant is wrong?

If they are, yes — but honestly and without ego. Most often, they’re doing okay but missing optimisations or not challenging their own assumptions. I’ll be direct about what matters and what doesn’t.

What happens if I disagree with your recommendations?

That’s your call. I give you the advice; you decide what to implement. My job is to give you the best thinking I can; your job is to know your business better than I do.

How often should we check in?

That depends on your goals and how much is changing. Some clients want monthly deep-dives; others prefer quarterly strategy sessions plus ad-hoc calls when they’re considering big changes. We’ll figure out what makes sense for you on our first call.

Can you help me review a new agency's proposal?

Yes. Bring me a proposal, your account access, and your business context. I’ll give you a critical, honest read on whether they’re overcomplicating things or missing something important.

Do you charge per hour or per project?

I quote per engagement based on scope. Initial deep-dives are typically one to two sessions; ongoing coaching is usually a monthly retainer. Book a call and we’ll talk about what works for your situation.

Do you work with Northampton and Bedfordshire businesses?

Yes. I work UK-wide remotely. Northampton’s a London commuter market with high CPCs, which brings its own challenges — I’m very familiar with that tier and the competition you face.

Need a second opinion on your Google Ads?

Let's talk. Bring your account context, current strategy, and the specific question you're wrestling with. I'll give you honest advice on whether your setup is sound or where the real waste is.
