When you need a consultant, not an agency

Some Suffolk businesses don’t need someone to take over their Google Ads. They need someone who can look at what’s already running, identify what’s wrong, and give them a clear path forward — without a sales pitch attached to it.

That’s what a PPC consultant does. I work with business owners who manage their own campaigns, in-house teams who want a senior check on their strategy, and companies whose current agency isn’t delivering but who aren’t ready to switch. Sometimes the right answer is fractional support: I work alongside whoever is running the account, not instead of them.

With 12 years in Google Ads and over £2M in ad spend managed directly, I’ve seen the full range — from well-structured accounts that just need a few adjustments, to complete rebuilds, to situations where the fundamentals are sound but the strategy is pulling in the wrong direction.

What PPC consulting looks like in practice

Why 'senior' matters here

Consulting advice is only as good as the experience behind it. Plenty of people in Suffolk and across England call themselves PPC consultants. The difference is whether they’ve actually managed significant budgets under real business pressure — or whether they’ve read the same Google Academy courses you could read yourself.

I’ve managed campaigns through platform changes, policy updates, automation shifts, and market conditions that would undo generic strategies quickly. I’m also honest enough to tell you when your account is fine. If your setup is working and you just need reassurance, I’ll say so — and we won’t have a long conversation about retainers.

A note on what consulting is not

This isn’t done-for-you management. If you want someone to run your campaigns end-to-end, I can do that too — but that’s a different conversation. Consulting is about advice, strategy, and oversight. It works best when you already have someone executing, or when you want a clear diagnosis before deciding what to do next.

How a consulting engagement typically works

  1. Initial callWe talk about your situation — what you’re running, who’s managing it, what you’re trying to achieve, and where the friction is.
  2. Account access or briefingDepending on the scope, I’ll either review your account directly or work from the information you share. No bureaucratic intake process.
  3. Findings and recommendationsYou get clear, specific observations. Not a generalised checklist — actual findings from your account, with reasoning.
  4. Ongoing or one-offSome clients want a one-off review. Others want me available on a regular basis. We structure it around what you actually need.

Pricing

Consulting engagements start from £300/month. The right scope and structure depends on what you need — a one-off review is different from regular fractional support. Book a call and we’ll talk through it. I’ll give you a straight answer on what makes sense before you commit to anything.

Frequently asked questions

What types of businesses do you consult with in Suffolk?

Mainly ecommerce brands and home services or trades companies, but the consulting work covers a wider range. The common thread is that you have Google Ads running — or about to run — and you want a senior perspective on the strategy.

Can you work alongside my existing agency?

Yes. I do this regularly. If your Suffolk agency is managing the account but you want an independent view, I can review the work without disrupting the relationship. Sometimes that’s all a business needs.

What if my in-house team is running the campaigns?

That’s a common situation. I work well with in-house PPC managers who want a more experienced sounding board. It’s not about undermining what they do — it’s about giving them access to a senior resource they wouldn’t otherwise have.

Is there a minimum commitment?

Book a call and we’ll discuss scope. I don’t have a one-size-fits-all consulting package because different situations need different things. The £300/month figure is where pricing starts — the specifics depend on what you need.

Are you based in Suffolk?

I work remotely across the UK, including with businesses in Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk, and Cambridgeshire. Most consulting work is done over video calls and shared account access — location doesn’t limit what I can do.

What if I just want to know whether my Google Ads are any good?

That’s a reasonable question and a good place to start. Book a call, share access, and I’ll give you an honest view. If they’re fine, I’ll say so. If there are problems worth fixing, I’ll show you specifically what they are.
