What a Google Ads audit actually finds

You’ve been running Google Ads for months. Maybe it’s working OK. Maybe it feels like money disappearing. Either way, you probably don’t know what’s actually happening under the hood.

An audit digs into that. I’ll pull 3–6 months of data, check your account setup, look at where every pound went, and tell you: what’s working, what’s leaking money, and what you’re missing entirely. Then I write it up clearly—no jargon, no BS.

The audit covers

The audit process

You give me access to your Google Ads account—read-only, nothing else. Takes me 4–6 hours to dig through the data and write it up.

I’ll produce a written report (10–15 pages usually) with findings, examples from your account, and a prioritised list of fixes. You can read it, ignore it, or hire me to implement it. No pressure either way.

If you’ve got questions after, I’ll do one follow-up call to walk you through the report and answer specifics.

How it works

  1. You book an audit5-minute call to agree scope (how long your account’s been running, what data you want included). I quote you based on account size and data history.
  2. Grant accessYou add me to your Google Ads account (read-only). I’ll spend 4–6 hours pulling data, checking setup, and writing up findings.
  3. Get the reportWritten findings: what’s working, what’s costing money, what to fix first. Optional follow-up call to discuss.

No contract. No obligation.

This is one-off diagnostic work. You get the report. You own it. If you want to implement the recommendations yourself, great. If you want to hire me to run the account or manage specific fixes, we can talk. But there’s zero pressure. The audit stands alone.

Common audit scenarios

“We’re spending £3,000/month but haven’t seen a single conversion.” Audit will show you why: tracking isn’t set up, keywords are wrong, landing page is broken, or your market just isn’t Google Ads.

“Our ads are profitable but I’m pretty sure we’re wasting money.” Audit finds the waste—usually 20–40% of budget—and shows you where to tighten.

“We’ve never done Google Ads before and don’t know if it makes sense.” Audit tells you: is your market here? What’s the likely cost per conversion? Should you do this at all?

“Someone’s been managing our ads for a year but nobody knows if they’re any good.” Audit reviews their work objectively and tells you if they’re worth keeping.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Google Ads audit cost?

I quote per scope after a 5-minute call—usually £400–£900 depending on account size, how long it’s been running, and how much data you want analysed. I’ll give you a number before we start.

Do you audit Google Ads accounts in Loughborough only, or anywhere?

Anywhere in the UK. Account audits are all remote—I don’t need to meet you. Loughborough, Leicester, anywhere else.

What if the audit shows my ads should be turned off?

That’s possible, and I’ll tell you honestly. Sometimes Google Ads is the wrong channel for a business—margins too tight, market too small, wrong product-market fit. If that’s the case, better you know now than waste another £3,000.

Can I show the audit report to my current agency or manager?

Yes. In fact, some managers appreciate the external sanity check. Others don’t. That’s on them. The report is yours.

How long does the audit take?

For me: 4–6 hours of work, usually done within 7–10 days of you granting access. You’ll get the written report plus notes on the follow-up call.

What if I want to hire you after the audit?

Great. The audit fee doesn’t count toward management services, but it saves time—I already know your account. We’d start management at standard rates (from £300/month for accounts up to £3k/month ad spend).
