When you need strategy, not takeover

You’ve got someone managing your ads — an agency, an in-house marketer, or you’re doing it yourself. But you’re not confident they’re optimising for margin, you’re seeing data you don’t trust, or you just want a second opinion from someone who’s run the numbers at scale. That’s where fractional consulting comes in. I review your account, identify what’s wrong, and either fix it directly or coach your team through the fix.

Your ads are probably bleeding money

I’ve looked at hundreds of accounts. Most of them have major structural problems — the wrong keyword match types, bidding on brand when they should use brand-exclusions, conversion tracking that’s flat-out broken, audience segmentation that lumps high-margin and low-margin customers together. None of these show up in ROAS if you’re not looking. But they cost real money.

What a consultant session typically covers

Amersham location advantage

You’re in Buckinghamshire’s affluent commuter belt. That means higher customer LTV but also higher CPCs because of London-level competition. A consultant can help you bid smarter here — not lower, just smarter. Fewer clicks but better margin. That’s the real win.

How fractional works

You either book a one-off consultation (typically 90 minutes, then you get an actionable report), or you keep me on retainer for ongoing strategic input — a call every month, questions answered via email, and ad-hoc reviews as your account changes. No ongoing day-to-day management, no standing team. Just expertise when you need it.

Frequently asked questions

When should I hire a consultant instead of an agency?

Hire an agency when you want to hand off the account completely. Hire a consultant when you want to keep control but need expert oversight — either to validate what someone else is doing or to fix specific gaps.

What's the difference between a one-off consultation and ongoing retainer?

A one-off is typically one deep-dive meeting, then a report with fixes and priorities. Retainer means monthly strategy calls, email access to questions, and periodic account reviews. Choose based on whether you want ongoing eyes on the account or just a diagnosis.

Will you implement the changes yourself, or just advise?

I can do both. I’ll always tell you what needs fixing. If you want me to actually implement it, we can negotiate that separately — it’s not part of the standard consultation.

Do you work with people currently at other agencies?

Yes. I work with teams who have an agency they like but want a second opinion. It’s common and not a conflict — I’m not trying to steal the account, just provide strategic input.

Can you help me understand why my CPCs in Amersham and Buckinghamshire are so high?

Definitely. High CPCs in this region are partly real — London-level competition pushes prices up. But most accounts can cut 20-30% of waste through better segmentation, smarter bidding, and tighter negative keywords. We’d review your account to find the low-hanging fruit.

How much does a consultation cost?

Same anchor as everything else: from £300/month if you go retainer. For a one-off consultation, request a quote on the call — it depends on scope and depth. But it’s fair to say you’ll spend less on a single review than you would on ongoing management.
