When you need a PPC consultant, not an agency

Some businesses have an in-house team or an existing agency, but they’re not certain they’re getting the best strategy. Others want guidance on whether to expand into new channels, adjust spend allocation, or overhaul their account structure. That’s where a consultant comes in. I work fractionally — a few hours per month, or a focused project — to give you the senior-level thinking your current setup might be missing.

I’ve been doing this for 12 years. I’ve managed £2 million in direct ad spend across ecommerce, services, and trades. I’m a Google Partner and Microsoft Ads certified. I’m blunt about what works and what doesn’t. If your current approach is sound, I’ll tell you. If it’s wasting money, I’ll show you why.

What fractional advisory covers

Haslemere's competitive landscape

The Haslemere market — and the broader commuter belt around West Sussex — is expensive. High CPCs, lots of local competition. If you’re already paying someone for management, a fresh pair of eyes can often spot 10–20% in unnecessary spend within the first audit. Maybe your negatives are weak. Maybe your bid strategy doesn’t match your conversion curve. Maybe your ad copy isn’t pulling well. Small gaps add up fast in expensive markets.

Fractional pricing

From £300 per month for ongoing fractional advisory. Exact scope and fee depend on your needs — a quarterly audit is different from 4 hours a month of strategic support. I’ll quote you based on a call.

The consulting process

  1. Initial consultationWe talk through your current setup, what’s working, where you’re uncertain, and what you’d like to change.
  2. Strategy audit or reviewI audit your account (or review the brief you give me), pull the data, and build a detailed findings document with recommendations.
  3. Debrief and ongoing syncWe go through the findings together, prioritise what to fix, and you decide what to implement. Then we stay in touch monthly or quarterly as needed.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use a consultant or fire my current agency?

A consultant makes sense if you want a second opinion before making big changes, or if you want strategic support without the cost of a full agency. If you’re unhappy with your current agency’s day-to-day work, you probably need to replace them, not add a consultant.

How much time would a fractional advisory engagement take?

Depends on scope. Initial audit is usually 5–10 hours. Ongoing fractional work might be 4 hours per month for strategy calls and account reviews. We’ll agree the scope upfront.

Can you help if our account is brand new?

Yes. A consultant can help you design the structure, keyword strategy, and tracking setup before you spend money. That’s often more valuable than fixing a broken account later.

What about local Haslemere and West Sussex specifics?

High CPCs, local competition from regional agencies, and commuter-belt audience behaviour all matter here. I’ll factor that into any recommendations.

Do you offer a free initial call?

Yes. 30 minutes to talk through what you need, what I’d charge, and whether we’re a fit.

Can you implement the recommendations yourself?

Usually, I advise; your team or current agency implements. But if you need implementation support, we can discuss that separately.
