When you need a consultant, not an agency

Sometimes you don’t need someone to take over your Google Ads. You need someone who can look at what you’ve got, tell you what’s wrong, and show you or your team what to do differently.

That’s PPC consultancy. It’s a different relationship — less hands-on management, more strategic direction. I work with Worcestershire businesses that have in-house marketers, capable freelancers, or agency relationships already in place, but want a senior set of eyes to stress-test the thinking.

12 years in Google Ads and over £2M in ad spend managed directly means I’ve seen most of the mistakes worth avoiding. More useful than that, I’ve also seen what actually works — and it’s often simpler than the industry wants you to believe.

What PPC consultancy looks like in practice

A second opinion you can actually trust

If your current setup is performing well, I’ll tell you that. Consultancy only makes sense if there’s a genuine problem to solve or a real decision to make. I’d rather give you an honest assessment than find problems that aren’t there.

Who this is for

PPC consultancy suits businesses at a particular stage. You’ve got Google Ads running — maybe through an agency, a freelancer, or even in-house — but something doesn’t feel right. Performance has plateaued, spend has crept up, or you’re not confident the account is being managed with genuine expertise.

It also suits businesses preparing for growth. Before you scale ad spend significantly, getting an independent view on your account structure and tracking can prevent expensive mistakes later.

Worcestershire businesses I’ve consulted for cover a wide range: ecommerce brands running Shopping and Performance Max campaigns, home services companies trying to make local search work, and professional services firms unsure whether Google Ads is even the right channel for them.

How a consulting engagement works

  1. Initial consultation callWe talk through what you’re running, what you’re trying to achieve, and where the friction is. This shapes what kind of support makes sense.
  2. Access and reviewI get read-only access to your Google Ads account and analytics. I look at the actual data, not just a summary report.
  3. Clear recommendationsYou get specific, prioritised actions — not a list of generic best practices. I tell you what to change and why.
  4. Ongoing or one-offSome clients want a single session. Others want me available on a retainer for ongoing questions and decisions. Both work.

Coverage across Worcestershire and neighbouring counties

I work with businesses based in Worcestershire and those serving customers across the wider region — West Midlands, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Oxfordshire. If your Google Ads campaigns need to work across county lines, that’s entirely normal and something I deal with regularly.

All consultancy is delivered remotely. That means you get senior, direct access without the limitations of geography — whether you’re in Worcester city centre or a rural area of the county.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a PPC consultant and a PPC agency?

An agency does the work for you — building, managing, and optimising your campaigns on an ongoing basis. A consultant advises you or your existing team. Consultancy suits businesses that have capability in-house but need senior strategic input they can’t easily access elsewhere.

How much does PPC consultancy cost?

Pricing starts from £300/month and is tailored to the scope of support you need. I don’t publish fixed packages because the right arrangement varies significantly from one business to another. Book a call and I’ll give you a clear, honest quote.

Can you work with our existing agency rather than replacing them?

Yes. Sometimes the most useful thing I can do is act as an independent check on your agency’s work — reviewing their strategy, challenging their reporting, and helping you ask better questions. This doesn’t have to be adversarial; good agencies welcome external scrutiny.

Do you work with businesses outside Worcester city?

Absolutely. Worcestershire is a large county and I work with businesses across the whole area — Redditch, Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Evesham, and rural locations. Everything is delivered remotely, so geography isn’t a constraint.

I'm Google-certified already. Why would I need a consultant?

Certifications test theoretical knowledge, not practical experience. Knowing the right answer in an exam and knowing what to do when your ROAS drops and your competitor just changed their bidding strategy are very different things. 12 years of managing real accounts means I’ve encountered most situations you’re likely to face.

What if my campaigns are actually in good shape?

Then I’ll tell you. A consulting call that ends with ‘your setup is solid, keep doing what you’re doing’ is a good outcome. I’m not going to manufacture issues to justify an ongoing relationship.
