Most Google Ads accounts are leaking money in ways that aren't obvious

Not through incompetence necessarily — through the kind of gradual drift that happens when an account isn’t looked at with genuinely fresh, senior eyes. Search terms that should have been excluded months ago. Bidding strategies that made sense when they were set up but don’t anymore. Conversion tracking that’s recording the wrong events and making everything look better than it is.

A Google Ads audit is a structured diagnostic. I go through your account methodically and tell you exactly what I find — the good, the bad, and the expensive.

What the audit covers

What if the audit finds nothing major?

Then I’ll tell you that. If your account is well-structured, your tracking is solid, and your spend is being used efficiently, you’ll get a report that confirms it. An audit is about finding the truth — not manufacturing problems to justify the fee.

Why tracking gaps matter more than most people realise

If your conversion tracking is broken — or tracking the wrong things — every automated bid strategy in your account is optimising toward a fiction. Google’s algorithms are smart, but they’re only as good as the data they’re fed.

Tracking verification is a core part of every audit I run. I check what’s firing, what it’s measuring, and whether what’s being reported actually reflects real business outcomes. This is often where the most significant findings come from — not from the campaign structure, but from the data layer underneath it.

How the audit process works

  1. Discovery callWe talk through your business, your goals, and what you’re currently running so the audit is focused on what actually matters to you.
  2. Account accessYou give me read-only access to your Google Ads account (and Analytics/Tag Manager if relevant). I don’t make changes during the audit.
  3. Structured reviewI go through the account systematically — structure, keywords, copy, bidding, tracking — and document what I find.
  4. Written report and walkthroughYou receive a clear written report with specific findings and prioritised recommendations. We walk through it together on a call.

Who this is for

A PPC audit makes sense if you’re spending meaningfully on Google Ads and have a nagging feeling something isn’t right — or if you’ve taken over an account someone else was running and want to understand what you’ve inherited. It’s also valuable before bringing on a new agency or consultant, so you have an independent baseline.

For East Yorkshire businesses in competitive markets — whether that’s home improvement trades, professional services, or ecommerce — knowing exactly what’s going on in your account before making decisions is worth the investment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Google Ads audit cost?

Audit pricing depends on account size and complexity — the best way to get a figure is to have a quick call. There’s no obligation to work together afterwards; the audit stands alone as a fixed-scope piece of work.

Will you make changes to my account during the audit?

No. The audit is read-only — I review and report; I don’t touch anything. Any changes are yours to make, or we can discuss ongoing management separately if that’s something you want.

Do I need to be in East Yorkshire for you to audit my account?

No — everything is done remotely. Read-only account access, a call to discuss findings, and a written report. Clients across East Yorkshire and the surrounding region work with me this way.

My agency runs my ads — can you still audit the account?

Yes. An independent audit of an agency-managed account is one of the most common requests I get. You’ll need to be able to grant read-only access — most platforms make this straightforward.

What happens after the audit?

You get a report and a walkthrough call. After that, it’s entirely up to you — implement the recommendations yourself, share them with your agency, or talk to me about ongoing management. There’s no pressure either way.

How detailed is the report?

Specific enough to be actionable. I’m not looking to produce a 40-page document full of screenshots — I’m looking to give you a clear picture of what’s working, what isn’t, and what to prioritise. Quality over volume.
