Most Google Ads accounts have problems the owner doesn't know about

Wasted budget on irrelevant search terms. Conversion tracking that’s broken or double-counting. Campaign structures that made sense three years ago but don’t fit the business now. Ad copy that’s never been tested against anything.

These aren’t rare edge cases. They’re the norm in accounts that haven’t had a proper review. And they’re usually invisible if you don’t know exactly what to look for.

A PPC audit is a structured diagnostic — a senior set of eyes on your account, focused on finding the specific problems that are costing you money and undermining your data.

What a PPC audit covers

What you get — and what you don't

You get a clear, prioritised list of findings — what’s wrong, why it matters, and what to do about it. You don’t get a vanity report full of metrics and screenshots designed to justify the fee. The audit stands on its own. You can take the findings and implement them yourself, hand them to whoever runs your ads, or choose to work with me going forward. There’s no pressure either way.

Why tracking is always the first thing I look at

Conversion tracking is the foundation of everything. If your tracking is broken — or if it’s measuring the wrong things — every decision you make based on that data is built on sand. I’ve seen accounts where the reported cost per conversion looked healthy but the underlying data was wildly inaccurate. The campaigns had been optimised for phantom conversions for months.

For Oxfordshire businesses — particularly in home services or ecommerce, where phone calls and form submissions are the lifeblood of the business — getting tracking right isn’t optional. It’s the first thing I check, and often where the most important findings are.

How the audit process works

  1. Request an auditBook a brief call to confirm your account fits the scope and agree on what you want to get out of it.
  2. Access and reviewYou grant read-only access to your Google Ads account. I work through the structured diagnostic at my own pace — you don’t need to be available throughout.
  3. Findings deliveredYou receive a clear, prioritised document covering what I found, why it matters, and what to do about it.
  4. Walkthrough callWe go through the findings together so you understand exactly what’s going on and can ask questions.

Who gets the most from a PPC audit

Audits work best for businesses that have been running Google Ads for at least a few months and aren’t confident the account is set up correctly — or have inherited a setup from a previous agency or freelancer and want to understand what they’ve got.

I work with ecommerce and D2C brands and home services businesses across Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties including Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Worcestershire. If you’re in the region and you’re running Google Ads, an audit is a low-risk way to get a clear picture of where things stand.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to use you to manage my ads after the audit?

No. The audit is a standalone piece of work. You can take the findings and do whatever you like with them — implement them yourself, hand them to your current agency, or work with me. There’s no obligation.

How long does a Google Ads audit take?

That depends on the size and complexity of the account. We’ll discuss realistic timelines when I scope the work on the call.

Will the audit cover Google Analytics and conversion tracking as well as the ads themselves?

Yes. Conversion tracking is always part of the audit because without accurate data the rest of the findings are less useful. I’ll look at how your tracking is set up and whether it’s giving you reliable information.

I'm based in Oxfordshire — do you audit local businesses or mainly national ones?

Both. I work with businesses of all sizes across Oxfordshire and the surrounding region — from local trades and service businesses to ecommerce brands with national or international reach. The audit process is the same regardless.

My current agency sends me monthly reports — why would I need an audit?

Monthly reports from the agency running your campaigns tell you what they want you to see. An independent audit tells you what’s actually happening. Those two things aren’t always the same.
